Flachau, where ski legend Hermann Maier learned how to become a world champion, is connected by the ski area with Wagrain and Alpendorf. Together, they form the ski area Snow Space Salzburg, which received several international awards („Best ski area in the Alps“ - International Skiareatest 2016/17).

Flachau has also been a venue of the Alpine World Cup for years - the Ladies' World Cup slalom 'Ladies Ski Night' is the event highlight in January.

Snow Space Salzburg is a popular training centre for international World Cup skiers and a well-known meeting place for the world stars from sports, politics and culture.

Together with the ski resorts of Wagrein, St. Johann-Alpendorf, Radstadt / Altenmarkt, Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl, Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl, Eben, Filzmoos and Goldegg, it forms the ski region Salzburger Sportwelt, one of five ski regions of Ski Amadé, Austria`s biggest ski alliance.
